Marketing to Women

By now, you know that women and men are different. And, it's not just because of our hormones. Women and men actually have different brain structures, different amounts and areas of brain allocated to certain functions, and different ways of using their brain.

Women use both sides of their brain simultaneously. Men use one side of their brain at a time. A woman also has more verbal outposts in her brain than a man ...that's why she talks more than a guy. But, here's something really interesting ... women use "indirect speech," while men use "direct speech."

Indirect speech is hinting or inferring ...its purpose is to build relationships, (which is a woman's Highest Personal Value), by avoiding antagonism or disagreements.

If you're attempting to promote your product or service to women, you must develop a relationship with her. And, indirect speech helps women to build relationships. So, when developing messaging for women, attempt to connect with her by using stories. She's much more likely to consider your product or service if she feels that you’re trying to "connect" with her, instead of "selling" to her.

This is how a woman's brain works...she'll read an ad or hear a TV or radio commercial and if she feels that you're attempting to bond with her, she'll consider your brand. Then, she'll go to long format (typically your website) to validate her consideration by getting more information.

This consideration to validation process is integral to motivating her behavior. In your advertising, don't use bullet points...that's "direct speech," and it’s male-oriented. Tell her a compelling story about how your brand fits into her life ... how it recognizes her Highest Personal Value of establishing and nurturing relationships. Make her feel like you care about her life... make the brand messaging "life-relevant."

Then, think about your website . . . she'll go there to validate her consideration. Think of your website as a validation tool . . . this is a distinction that can't be stressed enough. Think about how women validate their consideration. They want information that's "life-relevant," and they also want to hear what other women think about your product or service. And, posting testimonials isn't enough. She’ll be more motivated by hearing other women talk about your brand. She'll also be motivated by hearing you tell a story about your brand, its beliefs and its soul.

Marketing to women is not the same as marketing to men. And, since women comprise 51% of the U.S. population, spend $6 trillion dollars and own 48% of all privately-owned businesses, don’t you want to learn how to build relationships with her?

Wild WE Member of the Month Interview with Mary D'Alba

Mary D'Alba - Metaphysical Practitioner and Corporate Trainer

Mary D'Alba - Metaphysical Practitioner and Corporate Trainer
www.spiritualitygirl.com

This month, our interview is with a fascinating person! Mary D'Alba is a Metaphysical Practitioner and Corporate Trainer with many years experience working with clients to create change in their life.

She is a highly trained and experienced Spiritual Troubleshooter who helps clients understand and develop their special talents, gifts and strengths. Mary has extensive experience in teaching and coaching in the corporate world as well as the Spiritual world. She is able to walk between both genres so her clients have a balance of mental, physical, emotional and spiritual knowledge.

Mary has transformed her practical corporate experience to her Spiritual business by teaching many classes and seminars on Spiritual Development and Personal Growth. Her warm demeanor and wicked sense of humor makes every interaction memorable.

Mary, tell us about your business

My business, SpiritualityGirl (www.SpiritualityGirl.com), helps others to embrace their Soul's Purpose. Here's what that means - I'm here to help a client dig inside to their deepest dreams and gifts and bring them out. It could be helping someone find that passion or developing it from the idea to action. I do that through holistic methods such as hypnosis, reiki, readings (psychic, angel or mediumship), life coaching or through a sacred ceremony.

How did you get started with your business?

I've done detailed and deep work on myself through holistic practices and I've seen the changes it has made on myself. While it does affect others, i.e. the better I get, the better I am for other people, it drove me to reach out globally to others so they can jump on the bandwagon to be even better than they already are! I wanted to take my training and development and pass it on to others so they can pass it forward. And I love meeting new people so that helps too!

What was your background before starting SpiritualityGirl?

My background was in Call Center Training, Management and Coaching in Sales and Non-Profits for over 10 years. During that time, I trained and developed large groups and one-on-one front line representatives and management to improve results. I've carried that over into my private practice now. It was a great learning opportunity for me!

How do you balance work and personal life?

It's important to set personal boundaries. I've learned the hard way I am only one person and scheduling too many people at one time or doing too much will wear me out. I won't be any good to my clients or my family if I do so. Also, I try to have a lot of fun in my personal and professional life. Being creative makes the time go faster and it doesn't seem like work!

What's the best piece of advice you would give other women starting out in your field?

It may sound like a cliché, but it is so important to Believe in Yourself. There will be a lot of nay-sayers out there (or inside) - don't listen to anyone but yourself. I'm not saying not to get help with certain skills - business plans, etc. - but believe in your idea and your worth. No one can take that away from you unless you let them.

What's the most rewarding thing about your business?

The most rewarding thing is seeing the growth in my clients. It is just amazing. To see confidence, happiness and breakthroughs make it all worthwhile.

How has being a member of the Wild WE supported you in growing your business?

I've met other amazing people in the same position as me. It's a great network to learn new things, ideas and ways to grow my business. The classes have been great, the articles have been so worthwhile, I can't say enough! I love being a member of Wild WE - I would definitely recommend it!

FENG SHUI + BLISS in your Bedroom

By Judith Wendell - Feng Shui Consultant www.sacredcurrents.com

Feng Shui, literally "wind" (feng) and "water" (shui), is the Chinese name for an intuitive, practical, art and earth science, that seeks to bring people and their environment into the most positive relationship.

Here's a Feng Shui chart, and some tips to arrange your bedroom in a way that supports your love life and health.

Feng Shui Chart

First, determine where your bedroom door is. It must be in one of three positions... Knowledge, Career, or Benefactors.

Once you recognize where the door lies, it is simple to see where all the other areas fall in your bedroom.

The position of your bed is most important. You should have a clear view of the door without being in line with its path. This usually means that the bed is diagonally across from the door. If the bed must be in the direct path of the door a round clear crystal could be suspended from the ceiling to help disperse the oncoming Chi (the Chinese word for energy).

Equally important is having a solid headboard. A headboard is symbolic of having a protective mountain at your back. It also acts as a unifier of relationship – two acting as one. Wrought iron or open lattice headboards do not accomplish this.

Energy must flow into your bedroom for a relationship to flourish. Make sure your bedroom door is unobstructed and swings freely thus symbolizing open and clear communications between you and your partner. Also, do not store things under your bed which can limited the healthy flow of energy.

Next, to have a balanced relationship the bed must also be balanced by having equal access on both sides. Each side of the bed should have a night table and lamp and never get cluttered. It is also important that your box spring be of one piece – undivided. Otherwise, an energetic 'split' occurs over time.

Other than the bed, the area of the bedroom that is most significant for a good relationship is the SW or back right hand side of the room. This is the area that is considered to represent marriage, partnership, romance and nurturing. Healthy plants are a good symbol here for your growing relationship. Pictures of the two of you (or anything in pairs), fresh flowers and candles particularly in the colors red, white or pink, strengthen this area. An oval or round mirror in this area can be a symbol of expanding unity and wholeness in your relationship.

The color of your bedroom can range from terracotta to the softest pink because these are the colors associated with joy, love, and romance. But the color peach is not considered a stable one for a long lasting relationship... but good for sexual encounters. Beige, brown, yellow and taupe are fine for the bedroom too, because these colors represent trust, connection, and growth. Relationships desirous of ensuring sensual bliss should use red or pink sheets. If this does not fit your personal taste, try putting a red sheet on the underside of the mattress (next to the box spring). Red is considered a particularly auspicious color. It connotes happiness, sensuality and act as a protector.

It is important to always crack at window again allowing for the healthy flow of air and chi.

Start to recognize that everything holds a vibration and potential meaning. In this way you can put the meaning you want in your bedroom and relationship. Placing mundane and transcendental objects (i.e. a crystal) with intention is a big part of what give them potency. And who doesn't want a potent relationship!
